I have to write two pages on why the NFL bye week is A) ineffective/important or B) not.
This is a social statistics course.
I need help writing it.

This may turn my grade from a B to an A, or a really high B. Help.

The bye week is used as a time for recovery for the team. The sport of football is insanely physical and hard on the body. An extra week of non-contact can do the body very well. Especially is there are a lot of players on your team with smaller, nagging injuries. It can also be used to refocus the team if they have hit a rough patch.

Compare performance after a buy vs. performance on a Thursday after a short week.

Fantasy football.
Bye weeks and their arrangement determine how you draft because you have to ensure you're prepared to have full lineups every week. They also force you to drop QBs, defenses and kickers if you're not willing to stash an extra at any of those positions for such occasions. They are a major deciding factor in the now-massive game-ish-thing that is fantasy football.
For actual teams, they offer the opportunity to reevaluate starting rosters and coaching staff. If a coach is fired midseason, it's usually right before the bye week. they also offer a chance for players to rest and a team to "Get healthy". Look at what the Chargers did on defense before and after their bye week this season for a good example of how important players returning from injury all at once can be (They got Brandon Flowers, Melvin Ingram and Jerry Attaochu all back for their game versus the Raiders after being blown out by the Dolphins in their previous game, before the bye).

personally I would make a comment about how the bye week is effective for making the NFL more money 1 more week of regular season football = 1 more week of sponsorship dollars you could expand on this and reflect about the other questionable money making methods of the NFL such as ray rice/Adrian Peterson/all the other bull shit penalties and fines the NFL uses to keep star players on the field and making money.
